I’m back, which only means one thing … it’s winter break. After 3 months of hell, I’m back for a month. Last year’s winter was actually spent regreting my shitty first semester, but this semester was good. Did well in all my classes and had fun socializing with college and the fun it has to offer. I’m thinking next semester will be even better.

Anyways, not too many plans for the winter break. Usually I would pick up a new programming project since it’s my #1 hobby … but this time I’m gonna take an fun route and just get addicted to a game. I’m not much of a gamer, so my interests are very limited. I know that I love MMORPGs … but not all of them. I’ve tried the insatiable World of Warcraft, and thankfully (I say thankfully because I don’t want to addicted out of my mind for a computer game) I didn’t really like it. One game that I love, however, is Diablo 2. I googled for many games similar to D2, and only 1 fit the profile, and that is Titan Quest. So yes, the entire month of January will be spent playing Titan Quest online with my old D2 buddy, whom I haven’t spoken to in over 2 years when I stopped playing D2. Isn’t that strange that I only meet and talk to this person when a game comes up lol … and he’s not a gamer or a nerd of anything, he’s a cool guy … but that’s apparently the only subject that we really connect on.

Wow, this is the first blog post that is actually getting really long. I strongly believe that long blog posts are really annoying and boring, especially if they are about someone’s personal life, so I’m gonna stop it now. If you do play Titan Quest, e-mail me and maybe we can play online and you can help me out.

Oh, and to my 5 loyal readers, I will dish out a review of the game soon.

Just got back from watching Inglourious Basterds and I must admit, it was a pretty good movie. Brad Pitt was amazing … even for the short time that he was there, he was awesome! I must admit I would have liked the movie more if it had some more action than the long dialogue, but I guess that’s why it’s a Quentin Tarantino movie.

I really don’t have much to say about the movie. It’s definitely something I recommend you check out if you can. I would say it’s a blockbuster or anything, nor is it a movie I would watch over and over again, but it was a good one. If you do get tired on the middle of the movie cause of all the long dialogue, don’t worry, a badass action sequence is just around corner. Especially the ending. OMG, how awesome was that!!

SPOILER: You know what’s funny … I actually thought this movie was based off a true story as first, but of course when Hitler died, it pretty much gave it away. But the way Hitler died was amazing! If only he died like that in real life … boy that would be epic to read in History class.

So I watched G.I. Joe yesterday, and I have concluded that this summer’s movies sucked! G.I. Joe was alright. Nothing too spectacular. It’s not as bad as I thought it was though. I was told that during the screening, the movie was so bad that some critics just walked out of the movie theater. How true this is, I don’t know but you can imagine how low my expectations were. And it definitely did better than I expected it. If my rating means anything (which is doesn’t), I would give it 2 out of 5 stars.

The movie would be worth it if it wasn’t soo long. I don’t get why movies are so long now a days. You got Transformers that would never freaking end, and although I liked Funny People, it could have been shorter. Anyways, back to G.I. Joe. What really confused me was the outfits … I remember G.I. Joe action figures to be less sci-fi and more patriotic. I don’t get where this new theme came from. The new advancements were pretty cool, but the action sucked. If the action was more intense and/or interesting, it would have been a winner. I’m talking to long. Let me break it up.

What I liked:

Sienna Miller’s hotness

The G.I. Joe suits

What I disliked specifically:

The way the plot unfolded. It was rather … retarded. Watch the movie you’ll see what I mean. Especially the way the flashbacks were presented … that was just Wow

Marlon Wayans jokes. I love Marlon Wayans but his jokes were terrible in this movie. He came out as a fruit

The main action sequence (the one in Paris). I don’t know if it’s just me but it was way shittier than the way the trailer depicted it. And what the heck was up with Scarlett … the motorcycle scene was soo unrealistic

The ending credits soundtrack … seriously?! Was that the best they could find.

Overall the movie really sucked in my opinion. It’s probably worth 1 watch .. but I don’t know if I would be willing to pay to see that. Luckily I get to see movies for free on Tuesdays! Yay Optimum!

I have just submitted my first php script to ThemeForest. The php script is a Mailing List system that easily incorporates into any website and is just tremendously easy to send newsletters. The system accepts HTML so you can funkifize your newsletters all you want. You can get my script for only $4 by clicking here.

The script is pretty light-weight, but powerful at the same time. It gives guests the ability to subscribe to your mailing list, subscribers the ability to unsubscribe and gives the admin the ability to manage all subscribers and send newsletters. It’s definitely a recommended addition to anyone who wants a mailing list.

Another bonus feature is the fact that the mailing list pauses for 3 seconds every 20 e-mails it sends to assure your server won’t crash. Of course, if you have cheaper/free hosting, it’s always better to increase the pause time, and you have the ability to do that.

You also have the ability to manage all error and success messages that your guests receieve … making it as custom and personal as you want it to be. The CSS is very simple and easy to manage, so you can style it to match your website or do just about anything with a simple CSS file.

I hope you all enjoy the script. I might come out with a version 2. If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments below or e-mail me.

I’ll be vacationing next week in the Adirondacks, Montreal and Quebec City for 7 days, next week. I’m definitely psyched and can’t wait for it! It’s also going to be interesting since this is the first family vacation where I am responsible for planning the itinerary, so a lot of time has been spent googling and just checking what to do and see. And I hope I can survive without a GPS.

I own a Garmin Nuvi 200, one of the first few models of Garmin. It’s a pretty awesome GPS but the only downfall is that it does not include maps of Canada … so now I have to rely on regular old maps and MapQuest. What a world we live in … it’s like once you get a GPS, there is NO WAY you can ever go back to the contemporary method of maps and written directions. I’ve been spending the last couple hours finalizing my itinerary, printing out MapQuest directions and printing out screenshots of Google Maps … so I have some street view of the surrounding area. It’s quite sad that it’s come to this. I can’t use a street map .. so I am relying on screenshots of Google Maps.

Technology is evidently lead to our downfall. I should probably just get an iPhone to make my life much simpler. And if you’re wondering why I don’t upgrade my GPS, it costs $75 to load in maps from Canada and Puerto Rico. It’s pointless to waste that kind of money on a few days.

Well, wish me luck!

So I just got an invite to use Google Voice. I got myself a number and gave it a test run. Works well and it’s a pretty cool concept but I don’t think it’s for me. I only have 1 phone number (my cellphone) …

… the point of Google Voice is to ring all your lines so that you are guaranteed to recieve the call … and that just doesn’t really suit me, my comforts, or my needs. But then again, I highly doubt their target audience was college students. It is definitely a neat concept though. And I like the fact that they are giving away free business cards to distribute your google voice number.

… expect it to be released on my blog/website here. I can’t really say what it’s about … no particular reason why but I want to build some anticipation. For those who haven’t even seen my custom CMS video tutorial probably don’t care but I have gotten a lot of positive feedback from the few that actually reached out to me so I’m feeling good about the upcoming one. The topic is probably not as thrilling as custom CMS, but it’s definitely a popular subject so hopefully you will enjoy it.

Depending on how soon I get better, I will begin recording asap. I’ll keep you all in the loop and updated on the latest news of the new upcoming screencast.
