Getting Hooked on Titan Quest

December 28th, 2009

I’m back, which only means one thing … it’s winter break. After 3 months of hell, I’m back for a month. Last year’s winter was actually spent regreting my shitty first semester, but this semester was good. Did well in all my classes and had fun socializing with college and the fun it has to offer. I’m thinking next semester will be even better.

Feminine Weekend

September 11th, 2009

So this past weekend was spent watching The Parent Trap featuring the young/non-psycho Lindsay Lohan. Its a pretty good movie and one of my favorites growing up … definitely a recommended watch if you can stand a chic-flick. But it just hurts to know that I love such movies. My feminine interests make me want to cry.

And it’s also quite interesting how the same girl can turn into the “drugged-up G.I Jane looking thing” (quote from a friend).

Movie Review: Inglourious Basterds

August 25th, 2009

Just got back from watching Inglourious Basterds and I must admit, it was a pretty good movie. Brad Pitt was amazing … even for the short time that he was there, he was awesome! I must admit I would have liked the movie more if it had some more action than the long dialogue, but I guess that’s why it’s a Quentin Tarantino movie.

Movie Review: G.I. Joe

August 19th, 2009

So I watched G.I. Joe yesterday, and I have concluded that this summer’s movies sucked! G.I. Joe was alright. Nothing too spectacular. It’s not as bad as I thought it was though. I was told that during the screening, the movie was so bad that some critics just walked out of the movie theater. How true this is, I don’t know but you can imagine how low my expectations were. And it definitely did better than I expected it. If my rating means anything (which is doesn’t), I would give it 2 out of 5 stars.

Vacation

July 31st, 2009

I’ll be vacationing next week in the Adirondacks, Montreal and Quebec City for 7 days, next week. I’m definitely psyched and can’t wait for it! It’s also going to be interesting since this is the first family vacation where I am responsible for planning the itinerary, so a lot of time has been spent googling and just checking what to do and see. And I hope I can survive without a GPS.

Google Voice is not for me

Sore Throat and New Screencast

July 16th, 2009

I’m sick with a sore throat … YAY!!! And yes, instead of resting and sleeping, I’m on my computer. No comment on that. On the positive note, I will be coming out with a new screencast soon. Well, I’ll be submitting one to NetTuts and hopefully it’ll be accepted. If it’s not accepted …

New Project

June 29th, 2009

To make this summer a little more interesting, I’ve taken up a new project. I will be working on building a browser text-based MMORPG based on the anime, Bleach. It’s definitely a difficult task and will involve tons of aspects that I am not familiar with. But I am determined to have some crap up and ready by the end of the summer.

Is that too big of a goal? I think not. I think I’ll be able to survive. If you are interested in the RPG and would like to help out with planning or anything at all, shoot me an e-mail.

E-mail me your Tutorial Ideas

June 18th, 2009

I have noticed a recent jump in activity. Over 10 new members have subscribed to the mailing list and the activity has risen from 25 hits per day to 150, most of you guys coming in from NetTuts.

For some reason, I am unable to reply to your comments on NetTuts. They’ve been in moderation forever. So to those coming here, if you liked my screencast and have some new tutorial ideas for me, e-mail them to me and I’ll pitch the ones I like to Jeffrey. If he likes the idea too, I’ll go ahead and make a screencast for it :) .

Tutorial featured on NetTuts

June 17th, 2009

Last week, NetTuts editor Jeffrey Way posted an announcement for a competition he was holding, offering $500 to the next 2 Plus tutorials accepted. The offer sounded “tempting” and I thought I’d give it a shot. I sent in my submission on Monday but did not expect a response.

Uber Speed

June 10th, 2009

So I had recently upgraded to Windows 7 RC and noticed that it doesn’t run to well on my PC. I’m not too sure why either since i have 2 gb of RAM and it says that 1 gb is the minimum. After much struggle and irritation, I got myself a 4 gb pack and OMG THIS SHIZ IS FREAKING FAST!!!

Programs load in a second, the internet is twice as fast, omg this is sooo much more productive than my old shit. Wow I didn’t realize that RAM really does make all the difference. I’m much more happy now. Time to crack down to the coding :)

Done with Finals

June 2nd, 2009

Finally!!! I am finally done with finals!!! I now have 3 months to just waste my life doing nothing. Life is good! My finals went pretty well. Much better than my first semester, that’s for sure. My physics final was quite interesting. This guy sat behind me and at the beginning of the final, he asked me if I was good at Physics. I knew that meant he was going to cheat off me, but I didn’t realize it would get so eventful.

We wen’t back and forth asking each other questions and it was quite pathetic. Everything I asked him, he didn’t know, and everything he asked me, I didn’t know. So it was basically the worst and most fail’est cheating session ever! But I ended up passing the final and by the huge curve, that was a B so yay to me :)

Hope you are having fun with finals. I apologize for not writing in such a long time. I’ve just been extremely busy with classes. More to come soon.

Phenomenol Talent

Peer Guardian 2 – Block IPs on P2P

January 31st, 2009

So I download a lot of stuff from P2P search engines like torrents and I was always nervous about security. When you’re seeding a torrent, you’re sharing information with other people. Sometimes, it can get out of hand and if you’re not careful, you could even get cyber raped. A friend told me about a program called Peer Guardian 2.

Chrome disappoints, Firefox beta satisfies

January 24th, 2009

I’ve been using Chrome for about a week now, and I’m already disappointed with it. It has this phase where it immediately stops loading pages and throws a “unable to load server connection” error. The only way to fix that is restart. I read up on it and the only solution is turn off your firewall which is something I’m not doing.

I read up that Firefox 3.1 is expected to give great results on speed. And I also learned that there is a beta available for Firefox 3.1.

Chromed up!

January 21st, 2009

I realized that even with my new computer,  a core 2 duo processor and 2 gigs of ram, my FF still steals about 100k in resources rendering my computer slow and useless if I were to switch to some heavy duty work like Photoshop or a game. IE is definitely out of the question .. I can’t stand it one bit so I decided to give Chrome another try.

College begins tomorrow

January 19th, 2009

Second semester of college begins tomorrow and I must say that I am not looking forward to it. Porn for spam

Here’s a screenshot. It’s HILARIOUS crap! I highlighted all the funny subject titles in orange.

Valkyrie

December 30th, 2008

Last night, I saw the new Tom Cruise movie – Valkyrie. And in the end, I have to say that it was pretty good and educative. The story was interesting, the suspense factor wasn’t too predictable, the action was good and of course, Tom Cruise did a great job – I love his acting.

I discovered my new Pet Peeve

November 5th, 2008

So I was on campus today, and I was on one of my college’s shuttle buses and I discovered my new pet peeve.

People who laugh as loud as elephants!!! There were these 3 asian guys that got on the bus and stood infront of me, and they were talking about some crap, and then this one guy started laughing hysterically … SOOOOO LOUDDDD that my ears were hurting. I was just like “God please get a loud mouth blonde in here to shut this ass up” … this dooshie was soo freaking irritating that it was pissing the crap out of me. I have no words to describe how irritated I was on that bus.

I was suprised to see how his friends weren’t embarassed to be with him. I would just be like “Dude, we’re in public. STFU” … it’s like that one friend who does stupidly funny stuff that cracks you up all the time, but makes you wanna kill yourself when he’s doing the same thing in public. Boy that kid pissed me off.

Anyways, thats my little rant for the day. Short, but with a strong message. If you laugh like a retarded idiot, please stop! It’s really irritating to those around you.

My New Car!!!

October 31st, 2008

Just showing off my new car that I got. Hope you all like it.

I got a job!

October 23rd, 2008

The School of Social Work, a branch of my college recently opened a new center called “Violence against Women and Children”. I applied, and I got the job!!! So yay to me!

They said I had all the skills required for the job and I was exactly who they were looking for. Funny thing is, in my resume I wrote that I’m a “Part-time Custom Javascript Code Creator” for IPB. The future boss said he just installed IPB and he would need my help setting it up … now I wonder how the “I code for IPBFree, not IPB” conversation will go but I will update you guys on that when that comes.

Anywho, tomorrow I have to go in and fill-up some paper-work that should take about a week to process so the work will begin soon.

I’m guessing some of you are wondering about the pay. Well they want me to work an average of 15 hrs/week. Pay starts at $10/hr but will go up to $15 depending on work and experience. So we will see how great that turns out to be.

Soo …. I guess all those hours of wasting time on my PC actually paid off. Web design, coding and what not actually did get me somewhere. I now have an “official” title of being a Web Designer!! Though that doesn’t help my major since I’m engineering.

Interesting Browser Stats

October 12th, 2008

I was just looking at the page counter to see how bad Design Sector is doing. Due to inactivity by myself and everyone else, I thought the average of 1500 page hits probably dropped down to less than 500, but suprisingly it still stays strong at 1200. Any who, just noticed a feature that statcounter.com offers that I didn’t notice before … and that is browser count.

It shows all the browsers used by the last 500 users that visited Design Sector. It hasn’t continued on after 500 since I have a free account. I would need to upgrade my account for it to start caching more than 500 users.

These were the astonishing and quite amusing results:
http://i34.tinypic.com/1036ibd.jpg

It’s funny to see how badly IE is owned by Firefox. I didn’t know the ratio would be so differentiable. I thought it would be about 3:1 or 4:1 but this is like infinity:fail!! Anywho, just thought I’d share this.

I hope all the IE lovers over here finally realize that IE = FAIL and FF = PWN!!!! :)

Eagle Eye!

October 11th, 2008

A good friend of mine from high-school sadly departed to Pennsylvania for his college studies and I haven’t seen him since graduation in June. But yesterday, he came back for a visit, and we had the best time of our lives. Re-uniting our ROCK BAND crew with another friend of mine, we sucked ass this time compared to our previously attained gangster skills. I guess our peak was in the good old days, and now we just suck!

Anywho, to end the night, we watched the 10:30 show for Eagle Eye. For those that haven’t seen it, WATCH IT!!! It’s really as great at the trailers depict it to be. The suspense dies out half-way into the movie, and after that everything is very predictable, but nonetheless the action is soo good that you don’t realize how predictable it is. The action is equivalent to movies like Iron Man, The Hulk and Dark Knight so you know it’s some uber pwnage! Shia LeBeouf is definitely amazing in this movie … probably even better than what he was in Transformers (I didn’t see Indiana Jones so I can’t compare).

I don’t really want to give away much of the movie to all that haven’t seen it, but definitely it’s a must see. If you can’t watch in theatre cause $10 is too much for you, DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE BOOTLEG. The action is too intense and crazy and the shitty quality from a cam rip or pre-dvd rip will just KILL the movie. I suggest you wait till it comes on DVD and download the DVD rip cause I know all you are too cheap to actually rent it from Blockbuster.

The unexpected addiction

October 8th, 2008

Unexpectedly I am now addicted to DBZ. I never really watched DBZ as a kid, since I didn’t much care for fighting cartoons back then other than the amazing POWER RANGERS!!!! Anywho …. interestingly enough I was able to find a torrent online with all 276 episodes of DBZ and I’ve been watching it like an idiot and I’m LOVING it!!!

Definitely did not expect such an awkward addiction. I’ve had many addictions including Family Guy, Boondocks, The Office, House MD, Burn Notice, The Apprentice and others in the past, but none of them were as weird as DBZ. The reason I’m obsessing over it this is becuase I look at myself, and see myself enjoying DBZ, and it just makes me want to slap myself. Some of you might disagree because some of you might still like it, but idk why. I think it’s because it’s not something I ever pictured myself watching lol!

Google Chrome: Wow!

September 20th, 2008

It’s pretty lame how slow and late I am with the tech world … today, I found out about google’s new browser, Google Chrome. My first reaction was irritation rather than excitement. As a web developer, the #1 problem you always run into is site’s working differently on different browsers. And now with Chrome in the picture, there’s another browser I have to worry about.

After dealing with this, I realized that Chrome might go really far considering how great Google is, so I thought I might as well give it a go. I read a few reviews online, checked a few videos by Google where they flaunt their new and fancy features, and finally decided to download the browser.

Only one response … WOW!!! This crap is blazing fast! I will end up having to deal with the fact that I need to fix my crap in this browser as well, but after some testing, it works very similar to IE, so I’m hoping there won’t necessarily need to be a lot of changes made specifically for the browser.

As a FireFox supporter, I still prefer Firefox as of now. Yes, Google is DEFINITELY much faster than FF but I’m more used to FF and I like it a little more. All the extensions, add-ons and layouts makes FF definitely #1 in my eyes. But who knows, I do see a switch coming after a few more updates to Chrome.

Back from Vacation!

August 15th, 2008

Hello all!

I am finally back from my lovely long vacation in India. I actually arrived 2 days ago but didn’t check my blog till today. I hope everyone else had a great vacation. My is still not over yet. My mother’s birthday is towards the end of this month so to celebrate her 50th bday, me and my sister are taking her on a cruise to the Bahamas for 4 days :D

This doesn’t start till the 21st, so I still have a few days but I’m also busy with other stuff. College starts soon so I’m car hunting. Need to get me a shitty used beat up crap before college begins. Also busy getting my courses and schedule straightened out and definitely suffering from a massive case of jetlag!!!! I should back in pace within a few more days hopefully.

Other than that everything is good. It is a little depressing to know that Phalanx hasn’t been released yet. I thought it would be out by now but I understand Vipul is busy with his own crap so w/e.

Anyways I would continue this post but it’s almost 10 pm and Phelps is about to race for the 7th gold medal in the 100m butterfly in the Olympics. I defintely have to see this crap LIVE!
So toodles all …

Disappointed with Firefox 3

June 19th, 2008

I am honestly extremely disappointed with FF 3. It definitely doesn’t live up to it’s hype. Here are my problems:

  1. The program takes a little longer to start up.
  2. It definitely doesn’t use significantly less resources. Probably dropped by 10% max.
  3. Some sites don’t even render right in FF 3.
  4. Typing in a link is hella gay with the drop down with your history that pisses the shit outta you.
  5. The remember this password bar sucks … the pop up was much more easier.
  6. Half my add-ons don’t even freaking work.

This is just retarded. Extremely disappointed with the new upgrade. Hopefully FF will get tons of complaints and fix these damn horrible screw ups.

If you haven’t already downloaded FF 3, don’t download it. Or atleast back up your current FF 2 so you won’t lose it. I unfortunately don’t have the option to switch back -_-

Vacation time – I’m out!

June 16th, 2008

What’s up all! Well it’s almost time. Next Saturday (June 21st) I’m going to India till Aug 15th … so basically I’m out till Aug 15th I guess. I doubt I’ll be on the net when I’m in India so I doubt I’ll see any of you guys, or maybe I will … who knows.

To secure Design Sector while I’m gone, I have made Sindacious a temp admin who will moderate the forums once and while and make sure there are no spammers, or any other problems of that sort. As you all know, my hiatus in coding still continues. Hopefully by the time I’m back, Phalanx will be released and I’ll be back to coding! :D

Well there’s really nothing else to say. Till then, later all! I guess my next blog post will be about Firefox 3 and my feedback on it, and the next in 2 months :D

Peace and love
- Streek.

Time moves so fast!

June 9th, 2008

Oh wow! I just noticed how fast time flies by. This friday begins finals, next monday is graduation and next saturday is vacation time. It’s amazing to know how fast this year has zoomed by and how quickly these last few days are speeding through.

Finals don’t really bother me. I only have to take my physics and english final since I was exempt from my Math final. Physics will require some time on the brain, but English is a breeze. From what I’ve been told, it’s only an essay with a few open-ended questions which I can handle. But the thing that doesn’t bother me is that even if I don’t get an A or B, I’ll be fine because I’m moving on to college and I doubt a C on a final will hurt me. Call it over-confidence or sheer laziness but this year the finals don’t scare me at all.

People always ask me whether or not I am excited about graduation, and honestly I don’t know how to reply to that. I do like school, in the sense the social life, regular routine and minimal work done in classes. But on the other hand, I am a little excited about college. Sounds like a great experience and I can’t wait to be a part of it.

Summer is just gonna be the best. I will end up making another post about it later since it will be my last till the end of my vacation. There is a possibility I’ll be on again in the future, but I highly doubt it.

Just needed to get that off my mind. Catch you all later.

Conquered Feers! – Six Flags

May 17th, 2008

So yesterday was a field trip day for all Physics students at my school to go to Six Flags. From the start, I have never been a rollercoaster person because I have always been a little bitch I guess. Always been scared as hell of coasters. Not necessarly scared … but … wth yeah I was a little whore and scared as hell of coasters. I went on one when I was a kid I hated it. The steep drop from the top made my stomach all weird and shit and made me sick. Well not sick, but just nausious if that’s how you spell it.

But yesterday, I conquered my feers! My friends forced me to go on Superman which was my first coaster for the day, and the shit was amazing!!! The only thing that was scary was the one loop. I’m sure if you went on it, you would know what I’m talking about. That shit was scary .. but freaking awesome!!!

After that I went on El Toro …. And that was some insane shit too! It was sooo fast but it was awesome. Btw, it was raining like hell too yesterday. Some might think that ruins in it, but in my opinion it made it better. Going through the speedy coaster and then having rain hit your face hard as hell, that’s an amazing experience. It would have taken some pics but I didn’t take my camera. Didn’t want it to get spoiled in the rain.

Anyways, in general the coasters I went on were Superman, El Toro, Skull Mountain, Batman and Nitro. I have to admit .. the one I was most scared to go on was Nitro. It’s advertised to be so scary and what not that I thought I would die but it was best one of all! It was so awesome that like a dumbass I acutally yelled “This is better than sex!” .. lmfao!! But honestly it was teh shiz! After that I was ready to even go on Kingda Ka .. but sadly because of the rain that ride was closed.

Anyways, just wanted to share my amazing experience at Six Flags and the fact that I conquered my FREAKING fear of roller coasters. Makes me feel hella good to know that I love them now

Summer = Pass!

May 13th, 2008

After realizing how shitty and boring my Spring Break was, I was not letting that happen to my summer. For quite a while, my cousins in India have been calling me and asking me to come for the summer but I just wasn’t really up for it … but now I have decided that that is exactly where I will be spending my summer in.

It might sound shitty but not when you have RICH cousins like mine. People that are fun, know what a good time is and did I mention … are RICH!! … so with all that luxury, I can definitely be sure that the summer does not equal fail. Some people say India = fail in the eyes of US but It’s not that bad honestly … I get a shit load of attention and everybody’s eyes are on me. Especially after my Mom stressed the fact that this will be my last summer till conclusion of college, I’m sure people there will try to make it my best summer ever!

That does complicate a few things here though. If I am truly gone for the entire summer, it means DS won’t necessarily be bombarded with new codes and skins for phalanx (assuming it releases in summer) and just might suck a tad but it shouldn’t be too bad. I’ll only be gone for 2 months. I believe and I should be back mid Aug.

I’ll be gone … 28th June – 15th Aug … doesn’t sound too bad :)

Busy as hell

May 9th, 2008

I terribly apologize for my inactivity. I know I have been extremely inactive and that’s basically because I have been busy as hell with life! School is coming to an end and with a mere month left the work is just piling up with all the teachers trying to complete the course criteria.

Along with that, college visits are increasing. With placement tests, academic advising and course selection days, my weekends are just packed.

I’ve also started working out recently. This will be my second week so it’s a thrill but definitely takes up alot of time. Since I don’t use enery or protein supplements or anything of that sort, I don’t tend to have alot of energy after a workout which leaves me restless for the rest of the day. But the progress is good. More than gaining muscle, I’m trying to lose unnecessary fat and get in shape for the summer!

Well anyways, just wanted to apologize for my extreme inactivity and I hope to be on again soon!

ExtrovertHost!

April 27th, 2008

So I have recently changed my hosting from Reece’s WebHosting4Free service to ExtrovertHost. There is no particular reason for this switch except for the fact that I am offered more, but of course, my plan is a custom plan just like my plan with Reece.

A few weeks ago, I coded a website template for someone. Aparently, the website template ended up being extroverthost’s template and it’s owner being my customer. As a bonus for completing the project, I was offered with free hosting. A custom package that is hard to deny. With 10 GB diskspace, 100 GB bandwidth, PHP support and 10 MySQL databases … this was a plan I just could not turn down.

With WH4F, I was offered with 250 MB diskspace and 6.2 GB bandwidth. As you can see, both the custom plans have a distinct difference in what is offered and so the switch is bound to happen.

If are looking for my opinion on which one is better, my plans are custom made for me and most likely plans you won’t be able to get so I can’t layout a comparison chart. Plus, extroverthost still hasn’t completed constructing their site. But there is one thing I will say about both the services … both of them have a tremendous support ticket system and you get an answer within an hour, usually within minutes.

But in the end, am I happy with my new service? HELL YES!

Been Busy Recently

February 22nd, 2008

I realize that I haven’t been on forums recently and I haven’t been that active. I have a valid reason for all. I’ve been a little busy with school and college stuff. Another reason for that conveys to the inactivity is my work on the DS website. I’ve been working hard on the new Design Sector website.

It’s about time that I start taking action and actually do something about it so I have finally started working on that again. I have no school today due to the inclement weather as they say. It snowed about 4-5 inches so because of that school was closed which gives me alot of time to sit and finish the website. Hopefully it will be released by the end of this month :)

Don’t worry peoples, I’m still here. Just a little busy. And I’ve been notified that Vipul has been working very hard recently on the phalanx update, so you should keep your hopes up as I predict it’s arrival soon.

New and Fresh

December 15th, 2007

I noticed that my computer’s performance has been poor recently. The constant crashes, freezing and slow performance is pissing me off so I decided to take action. Instead of running all those spyware, adware, virus and performance enhancer programs, I just started fresh by reformatting my harddrive.

This seems to have worked a little better for me than a complete scan + cleanup routine would take. Took me only 2 hours to get my files on a usb key, reformat, reinstall and get it running. Back to blazing fast speed and above average performance. I suggest if people don’t have much crap on their PC that they need to save, just reformat.

You guys might be wondering how did I get all my files on a 2gb and a 4gb usb key? Well I have a Creative Zen Micro. Unlike the Ipod, you can transfer songs from the Zen to my PC. So I saved all my music files onto this and I ended just unloading all of it back onto my PC. Everything else on my PC is school work and coding stuff that ended up fitting on my usb keys. The programs and movies on this PC are already on discs so there was no hassle there :D . And since I’ve grown out of pron, I didn’t have much more crap to put on. I remember once before when I was hit with a virus, I reformatted and I noticed I had over 8 gb of pron XD

Well, time to go to the airport to drop my mom off.

Funny Freshmen

December 10th, 2007

Today I heard the funniest thing I’ve ever heard in a while. Ok, so in the back of my bus, there were these 2 freshmen that were suprisingly taking pride in their cousins that are in jail or whatever. So I was sitting 1 seat infront of them and hear these 2 talking.

Person 1: Yeah, one of my cousins beat up a cop once.
Person 2:  Yeah well one my cousins shot a cop once.
Person 1: I just met my cousin yesterday since he got out of jail a few days ago.
Person 2:  Yeah well I can’t see my cousin. He’s in jail serving a life sentence

It’s a retarded story and you guys might be thinking they were joking but they were serious about this. Yelling at eachother and what not, they were downright serious about this. It was hilarious how they took pride in such stupid crap.

Freshmen these days … :P

Mega Lottery (Released)

December 8th, 2007

Code Finally Released after the long wait. You can find it at Designsector.ipbfree.com

Ok, well I am basically done with my Lottery code. It’s still in beta testing mode and I’m having a group of various testers check it out. It will release on New Years! I’m sure you all will enjoy it!

As you all know, I’ve been working on a lottery code for quite some time. Basically this is how it was originally made … every member has member access to a certain forum that controlled the lottery because they needed to edit other posts which they obviously don’t have the power to do. Then I realized that this will be a security threat and removed the Mod Cp link but there are still many ways for those cruddy ass like members to get around it and screw it up.So now, basically I have to redo the entire code. A code that took me 1 week will have to be re-done. Only thing is when I did it, I had no school that whole week so I had more time on my hands. And also been dealing with my own crap at home so I don’t really have so much time for this stuff.

Hello world!

December 3rd, 2007

Hey!! What’s up guys. First blog finally and something that is more stable than that LiveJournal crap. I’m not much of a blogger but sometimes I just like to ramble on some crap for people to read. Depending on how much this blog is read, i’ll write more or less.

Anyways, I hope to keep you guys updated about me and what’s going and what not on this blog, that is, if I don’t get bored/tired of using this thing. I might go v-logging sometime possibly since I got myself a cool new webcam! Don’t really have much use of it but it was an incredible sale and I saved $30 so whatever that worked out fine for me… but it was ebay :P

Anyways, so if you guys are reading this post, welcome to my blog!
